I have a question regarding bit rate. I am trying to move a 12Mi bit video to my S3, but no matter what I do the bit rate is arount 6,000. When I fire up the pyTivo console it gives me the information on the input file, and ouptut file. These look good. The output file shows 12582 Kbps, however, as the encoding is happening the console is showing 6,000 Kbps.
After the video transfers, I bring it back to my PC via Tivo Desktop and and when I play it on the computer it is showing ta bit rate of 6,000.
ffmpeg is a transcoder that by it's nature tries to output the best possible output at the lowest bitrate, regardless of the bitrate setting. Without knowing the specifications of your input file, I would have to guess that your input file is a high quality encode of an HD source. 6mbps is the type of output I would expect from a high quality HD encode anyway. Can you provide the specifications of your source file? However, based on your conf file, I think you are receiving the best possible video bitrate output you can possibly receive from ffmpeg. I think 12Mi is more than can be expected unless your source file is an HD-DVD or Blueray. _________________ Download pyTivo my pyTivo branch
