Can you post links to information on this altered FFMPEG?
Standard FFMPEG's transcoding to MP4 works okay, but it's remuxing support sucks. And MP4's sent to the Tivo must have the info atom at the beginning of the file. ffmpeg and most other encoders place the info atom at the end of the file (because it's easier to process the whole file to figure out what data to put into the info atom and then write it.) So to make a Tivo compatible MP4 on the fly, we'd need to either 1) transcode and buffer the file to disk, then move the info atom, then send to the Tivo (pyTivo doesn't do any disk buffering in it's current form) or 2) transcode discarding the output but capturing the info atom at the end, transcode a second time and alter the output to tack the info atom at the beginning modify all the transcoded data atom pointers on the fly while sending to the Tivo.
Not very easy things to deal with. Both issues have discouraged development into on the fly conversion to MP4.
