I have pyTiVo setup on Leopard and it all works well. I can use Video streaming (video:stream) or Video download (video:pytivo) to my TiVo.
The only issue is that with certain file types I am only able to download them to TiVo and play them. With these files Although they are downloaded to TiVo I am not able to fast forward or rewind them. The files are all .m2t files that I have captured from my HD camcorder.
Any idea why these types are files are:
1. Not streamable?
2. Once downloaded to TiVo I can not FF or REW?
Not streaming is not a major issue but I really like to be alble to FF and REW.

Streaming is not a pyTivo issue (presumably you're talking about the Streambaby portion of pyTivoX there).
Lack of FF/REW suggests bad/missing timestamps. You could probably fix this by forcing it to be transcoded -- I'm guessing it's just being remuxed now. If that's the case, try creating a metadata file with a line like "Override_aCodec: wma". That should make it reencode just the audio, which might be enough to generate valid timestamps, though I'm not sure. If not, you could add something like "Override_vCodec: wmv" as well, to make it reencode the video.
I am not sure since I have tried several files and they all exhibit this.
I tried ffmpeg -i but I get command not found. I know I have it installed but I need to find out where it is installed. It is certainly not in my path. it has been a while since I used the Terminal
