TiVo Series II Pioneer with DVD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with all patches
pyTiVo Version - wmcbrine-2009.03.19-RC1
Yes I know the version of pyTiVo is three years old but the TiVo is older and they have been working together fairly well.
I have two problems with the TiVo that has gotten worse in the last few months.
1. Folders that were on the Now Playing list from the PC disappear. I have tried exiting the Now Playing list and reentering it but the folders do not come back. The only way to get them to appear again is to stop and restart the pyTiVo service.
2. The TiVo will hang while access data from the PC. For example, when you select a folder or subfolder instead of listing immediately you initally get the empty folder background with a popup box that ways please wait. Normally, the box disappears after at the most ten to fifteen seconds and the list appears. Sometimes the box never goes away and the TiVo is hung. The only way to recover is to power cycle it. This used to happen occassionaly (i.e. once or twice a week). Now it seems to happen once or twice a day. It appears the TiVo network I/O module does not include a timeout function so if the PC fails to respond or the TiVo misses the response the TiVo hangs.
The pyTiVo software has not changed in three years so I don't think the problem is there. The TiVo, on the other hand, does get updates pushed out every now and then.
Is this a known problem and if so is there anyway to get the TiVo to timeout instead of hanging?
By the way, I do not have any problems transferring vido files from the PC to TiVo if I can select them. I have not had a transfer hang once it started.
