Now I can start the piTivo console, was able to use the Web configuration and even transfer a file to a Series 2 Tivo (albeit much slower than I had with an earlier pyTivo version prior to the Win7 upgrade).
But rebooting did not start the service, and if I click it from the Start menu ("C:\Program Files\pyTivo\pyTivo.cmd" Start) I get "System error 5 has occured - Access denied".
When I try the same with "Run as Admin" option, the error changes to: "System error 1069 - service did not start due to a logon failure"
It may be useful to note that in my environment I have not figured out how to run pyTivo except as a service - pyTivo.py always gets 401's. "My environment" is XP Pro on a machine with AVG in a small network with WinGate proxy'ing and keeping an eye on traffic (but alas disabling both resulted in no joy).
Another machine in the same environment successfully interfaced with TiVo HD, so I installed pyTiVoService but kept getting logon failures. Probably somehow related to 'localhost' not being privileged.
Solution was to find the service (in Services, of course, and after having installed it). Then highlighting it got the OS to pop up an offer to run it as a service of the local machine. Success.
