New to the forum, been running pytivo for roughly 2 years.
This problem has been ever-present, but I just got cable again so its become an issue as all my toddler's programs can not be downloaded.
My TSN starts with 649003 and it is a Series 2 DT. It is hooked up to a humble old 32 inch screen circa 1992.
I'm running the most recent version of pytivo with the most recent fmpeg.
The end game is that whether I encode with AviDemux, ffmpeg, or HandBrake (9.3 gui or cli), pytivo has the pathological urge to put padding on the left and the right of the video instead of filling the screen.
This is occurring with files encoded with .h264 in an mp4 container. If someone can direct me to what encoding with handbrake, ffmpeg or settings in pytivo.conf or some hand editing of some portion of the underying python to get this to behave normally ... I would be greatly appreciative.

I'd suggest encoding to 640x480 or some other 4:3 aspect ratio. Otherwise, leave them as MPEG-2 (I'm assuming these are sourced from MPEG-2? You don't say), since MPEG has aspect ratio flags that ffmpeg can read -- I don't think MP4 does. _________________ My pyTivo fork . My page
