I can run pytivo.py from the command line it works.

When I try and run pyTivoService.py --startup auto install I get the usage information printed (as if I didn't pass the right parameters). No matter what parameters I pass in, all I get is the usage printed out.

I am running python 2.7.3
downloaded and installed wmcbrine-pytivo-db601b3.zip
downloaded and installed pywin32-217.win32-py2.7.exe
Windows 7

I am tempted to just try and create the service using sc.exe. Thought I'd check if anyone has any ideas.

I can't help you with the first problem... In the past when I've tried pyTivoService.py it's created the service fine BUT... I've found it a bit flaky. Particularly when stopping and restarting the service. It reports to the OS the service has stopped when it hasn't quite finished.

I use XYNTService to run the service (and sc.exe to create it). It's available here if you want;
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/719/Start-Your-Windows-Programs-From-An-NT-Service (weird this link seems to have stopped working and I can't find another source)

I've developed a windows installer. It automatically downloads the latest version of pyTivo (my fork of pyTivo - it's the same as wmcbrine's with some slight improvements), configures firewall rules and file system permissions and creates the service (using xyntservice). You could always give it a go if you'd like... It's available here;
