I am having a problem with some videos that I transfer to my TivoHD using wmcbrine's latest fork. Specifically, when I view recordings from PAL sources I see a what I would describe as a video stutter. The audo is fine, and seems to be in sync with the video. Here are some details about these videos:
frame rate: 25 fps
bit rate: 30 Mbps
I have tied several things to fix the problem, with no success. These include adding the following (one at a time) to the pyTivo.conf file as Per Tivo options:
After each attempted fix, I have used TTG to retrieve the output video back to my PC, and have noticed that the frame rate and resolution are the same as the original, which implies that pyTivo is ignoring the settings in the pyTivo.conf file.
I have found two workarounds, but do not like either of them because they are difficult to automate:
1. Use PyTivo to transfer the video first to a S2DT, then use MRV to transfer it to the TivoHD. The video then displays correctly on the TivoHD (no stutter). Note that in this case if I use TTG to retrieve the file back to my PC, the resolution is now 544x480 and the frame rate is 29.97 fps (no surprise, since it was first sent to a S2DT).
2. The original 512x384 25 fps video displays correctly if I change the TivoHD's video output resolution to 480i. The stutter is present if I use any other TivoHD output resolution (including 480p).
Does anyone have a suggestion for how to correct this? I have a short sample mpg that displays the problem, if anyone wants to try it for themselves (it's about 30 MB in size).
