In olden days, if you had more than one pyTivo server running on your LAN, you needed to manually set the GUID in each pyTivo.conf to prevent them from conflicting. Nowadays, the default is a string that's randomly generated at startup. Conflicts are thus prevented automatically (with a 1 in 52^10 chance of collision). And hard-wiring the GUIDs in pyTivo.conf only seems to cause problems.
So, I'd like to kill this option, and just use the random GUID always. But I wonder -- am I missing something? Is there a need or use for persistent GUIDs that I'm overlooking?
