If I am wrong, please don't hesitate to correct me. But prior to correcting me TEST it on YOUR system FIRST please.
After ripping a fair number of VC-1 encoded blu-rays. Yes that I own. I have found some that are INTERLACED VC-1. MOST are Progressive. However some are INTERLACED.
Examples of Interlaced VC-1 encoded Blu-rays (1080i vs 1080p) are Torchwood: Season 3: Children of Earth. Disc 1 & 2, Red Dwarf: Back to Earth. Disc 1 & 2.
All of the MKV's I create that contain PROGRESSIVE VC-1 encoded video (1080p) transfer to the TiVo using pyTiVo without a problem.
They also transfer just fine with TD+ 2.8.
However... Any MKV I have created that contains INTERLACED VC-1 encoded video (1080i) will not transfer. It hangs and locks up pyTiVo. I have to close pyTiVo, stop the transfer on the TiVo, sometimes even rebooting the TiVo then load up pyTiVo. TD+ 2.8 will do the same thing. Although with TD+ 2.8 It forces me to reboot the TiVo. Clearing the "To Do List" won't work.
After some research on Doom9. A few people pointed out to me that FFMPEG can't decode 1080i (Interlaced VC-1) that currently it only supports 1080p (Progressive VC-1)
I currently haven't found an easy way to convert Interlaced to Progressive yet. Or ane asy way to convert interlaced VC-1 to H.264 or MPG2. There are ways... however for whatever reason they do NOT work well for me or on my computers. Go figure.
