I recently decided to try ripping a DVD to an mpeg file to transfer to my TiVo. After I had the mpeg I tried using the standard TiVo Desktop software, and it always stopped the transfer at 23 minutes. I decided to try pyTiVo and it will not let me start the transfer. It says to check the recording history screen. That says
This recording was deleted earlier than planned because the space was needed for another recording.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get pyTiVo working?
Depending on how the mpeg was created, it may need to be "fixed up" before it is able to be properly transferred to the TiVo.
wgw summed it up nicely in another thread:
Mpeg and vob duration and/or pixelation issues is a recurring problem that is usually caused by errors in the mpg/vob and can usually be corrected by changing the way that the mpeg or vob is created. IMO, Mpeg StreamClip should always be used to copy DVD's to disk as mpegs and/or repair vob's and mpegs copied to disk by other programs. Vob's are especially prone to errors and require preprocessing by Mpeg StreamClip before attempting to send them to the tivo. I'll try to create a sticky this weekend with instructions.
