I find default.txt to be most helpful for grouping when pushing files. For instance, I wanted to create a folder called Movies on my NPL. Movies do not have their own seriesId. Unfortunately, the creation needs to be done in two steps initially.
First create a default.txt like this:
seriesTitle : Movies
seriesId : Movies
Then push a small clip up to your tivo. It will be called Movies.
Now, edit the default.txt to remove the seriesTitle line.
Now when I push videos up from that directory (with the default.txt), they will all group in the Movies folder (with the correct name from the metadata file). As long as I keep one video on my Tivo, the mapping will stay the same (seriesId : Movies will source to Movies folder on Tivo). If I delete everything from the Movies folder and wait a few weeks before I push something back up, then I will need to go through the first steps again.
