I was wondering if anyone has looked at coherence?? (http://freshmeat.net/projects/coherence/) It is s a upnp/dlna framework, including MediaServer support. Its written in python and as of the current development work (http://coherence.beebits.net/roadmap) they are adding transcoding as well.
The thing I thought was interesting is that they seem to have a large number of backend mediasources, youtube, flickr, ted, rss etc. Might be a way for pytivo to get all those features without having to implement them.
I was theorizing it might be possible to utilize coherence as a media server and leverage pytivo as a control point to the media server which could then provide to the tivo itself the url of the file/stream to download.
